TikTok and SoundCloud Announce Collaboration: Save Tracks Directly from Videos

In a groundbreaking move for music discovery, TikTok and SoundCloud have announced a new partnership that allows users to save tracks from TikTok videos directly to their SoundCloud playlists.

This integration, part of TikTok’s “Add to Music App” feature, introduces a seamless way for music fans to curate their discoveries while offering artists a powerful tool to expand their fanbase beyond the fleeting attention of TikTok’s scrolling audience. It’s a win-win for both platforms and their users, announced on May 21, 2025.

The collaboration brings SoundCloud, a platform renowned for its vast library of over 400 million tracks from 40 million artists, into TikTok’s growing music ecosystem. The “Add to Music App” feature, which first launched globally in 2024 with integrations for Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, has already facilitated over one billion track saves, generating billions of streams across supported platforms.

Now, SoundCloud joins the mix, enabling users to tap the “Add Song” button next to a track name at the bottom of a TikTok video on the For You feed.

This action saves the song directly to a user’s Liked Tracks playlist on SoundCloud, streamlining the transition from discovery to fandom.

For TikTok users, this integration simplifies a process they already do organically: hearing a catchy track in a video, searching for it, and adding it to their music library.

With the new feature, a single tap eliminates the need to switch apps or hunt for songs manually. Users can select SoundCloud as their default streaming service the first time they use the feature, with the option to switch preferences via TikTok’s Settings and Privacy menu. This ease of use aligns with TikTok’s role as a dominant force in music discovery, where 84% of songs on the Billboard 200 in 2024 gained traction on the platform first.

For artists, particularly independent musicians who thrive on SoundCloud’s artist-first platform, this partnership is a game-changer. TikTok’s viral potential can turn a snippet into a global phenomenon, but sustaining that momentum has often been a challenge.

By enabling direct saves to SoundCloud, artists can transform casual listeners into dedicated fans who engage with their full catalogs. “SoundCloud has always been the go-to platform for discovering what’s next in music, from emerging artists to breakout genres,” said Emmy Lovell, SoundCloud’s Global Head of Music. “Partnering with TikTok makes it easier than ever for fans to save the songs they love and stay connected with the artists behind them.”

The timing of this collaboration is strategic, coinciding with SoundCloud’s launch of “Move Your Music,” a feature that allows users to transfer their music libraries — including liked songs and playlists — from platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer, and Amazon Music. Together, these tools position SoundCloud as a central hub for music discovery, blending social media virality with long-term listening.

This is particularly impactful for indie artists, who can leverage TikTok’s trend-setting power to reach new audiences and build lasting connections on SoundCloud.

The partnership underscores a broader trend in the music industry: platforms are increasingly collaborating to bridge the gap between discovery and consumption.

TikTok’s influence on music trends is undeniable, with U.S. users 74% more likely to discover and share music on the app.

By integrating with SoundCloud, TikTok reinforces its position as a cultural tastemaker while empowering SoundCloud to sustain the momentum of viral tracks.

As Lindsey Kelt Zikry, TikTok’s Global Product Partnerships Lead, noted, “We are thrilled to be partnering with SoundCloud—the leading platform helping artists to bring their music from concept to audience—to support emerging and aspiring artists in reaching new fans and superfans on TikTok.”
