Volvo is set to become the first automaker to incorporate Google’s advanced Gemini AI into its vehicles, marking a significant leap in automotive technology.
According to a report by The Verge, this integration aims to reduce drivers' "cognitive load" by enabling more natural and intuitive interactions with in-car systems.
Powered by Google’s Gemini AI, Volvo’s vehicles will allow drivers and passengers to perform a wide range of tasks seamlessly, including sending text messages, getting navigation directions, playing music, and accessing many of the features currently offered by Google Assistant.
The key differentiator is Gemini’s advanced natural language processing, which eliminates the need for rigid, robotic voice commands.
Instead, users can interact with the system in a conversational manner, making the experience more fluid and user-friendly.
The new Gemini-powered feature is expected to roll out in Volvo vehicles later this year. Additionally, Android Auto users will gain access to this technology in the coming weeks, bringing the enhanced AI capabilities to a broader audience.
