Kanye West's Twitter Account Deactivated Following Brief Message to Elon Musk Amid Super Bowl Criticism of Taylor Swift.
On Sunday (February 9), during the 59th Super Bowl, an unusual commercial featuring West, legally known as Ye, was broadcast.
The commercial, filmed on an iPhone at a dental office, showed the 47-year-old rapper sporting sunglasses. The 30-second advertisement included only two lines of dialogue: "What's up guys. I spent all the money for the commercial on these new teeth."
"So once again I had to shoot it on the iPhone. Erm... uhm.... go to Yeezy.com."
It comes off the back of his controversial Grammys stunt
During the NFL Championship game, West took to Twitter to criticize Taylor Swift, aged 35, for seemingly 'singing' along to Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance of his Grammy-winning song, 'Not Like Us'.
“IF ITS ABOUT THE CULTURE ... WHY ARE WE LETTING TAYLOR SWIFT BE SEEN ON TV SINGING A SONG ABOUT TAKING A BLACK MAN DOWN AND ACCUSING OF THINGS THAT CAN TAKE A BLACK MAN DOWN FOR LIFE,” he wrote.
In another post, he expressed gratitude to Elon Musk, aged 53, for 'allowing [him] to vent' on the platform before announcing that he was 'logging out'.
“I'm logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip.
“Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. To we connect again. Good afternoon and good night.”

Kanye West's controversial exit from Twitter followed his provocative posts where he claimed 'dominion' over his wife, Bianca Censori, after she appeared beside him in a sheer dress at the Grammy Awards:
“I have dominion over my wife. This ain’t no woke as feminist s**t. She’s with a billionaire, why would she listen to any of you dumb a** broke b*****s?
In another tweet, the "Runaway" artist referred to himself as a 'Nazi':
“I love Hitler. Now what b****es,” he also typed on Friday (February 7).
A 'sensitive content warning' was added to West's Twitter account after these antisemitic remarks, with public figures like David Schwimmer from "Friends" and Piers Morgan advocating for his removal from the platform by Elon Musk:
“We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk,” Schwimmer, 58, wrote.
“Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.”
West also recently claimed in an interview that he was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016 and that he actually has autism:
“I went to this doctor, one that works with Justin Bieber, one that work with I'm not even going to name other names and stuff,” the father-of-four told Justin Laboy.

“She’s educated - so she says: ‘I’ve seen bipolar before’, and I’ve come to find it’s really a case of autism that I have.”
West further explained that his diagnosis is why he often does the 'opposite' of what his loyal fans expect.
“I've come to find out it's really a case of autism that I have and autism takes you to a Rain Man thing where you're like ‘Oh man I'm going wear this [Donald] Trump hat because I like Trump in general and then when people tell you to not do it you just get on that one point.
“That’s my problem when fans tell me to do my album a certain way, I’ll do it the opposite way just because.”
