An insider alleges that Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco were engaged in August, but postponed the public announcement due to considerations involving Justin Bieber.

Selena Gomez made her engagement to Benny Blanco official via an Instagram post on December 12.

Yet, according to a source, the "Only Murders in the Building" actress had actually received the proposal from the producer months before, but held back from sharing the news, possibly to avoid conflicting with other announcements.

Selena Gomez announced her engagement on Instagram yesterday, posting four photos. The first image displays her hand with the engagement ring; the second captures her seated in a garden, admiring her ring; the third is a selfie where she beams at the camera, showcasing her ring; and the last photo shows Gomez in Blanco's embrace, with him kissing her head while she proudly displays her ring, smiling broadly. The caption accompanying these images simply states, "Forever begins now.."

However, a source has come forward to suggest that while the announcement was made yesterday, the proposal itself might not have been recent.

An alleged insider spoke to Mail Online, revealing that Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco got engaged back in August. The question then arises, why the delay in making it public until December? Being in the public eye doesn't necessitate immediate disclosures about personal life events.

According to the insider, Gomez delayed the announcement partly because of Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber's announcement of their first child's birth, which also happened in August. The insider alleges that Gomez wanted to avoid any association between her engagement and Bieber's family news, fearing that it might lead to narratives suggesting she was trying to divert attention from Justin's baby or to overshadow his personal milestone.

Although not officially confirmed, this strategy to avoid negative social media backlash seems plausible, especially given Gomez's past discussions about the severe impact of online trolling on her mental health.

Despite the desire to let bygones be bygones and allow everyone to move forward with their lives, some social media users have persistently speculated about an alleged feud between Gomez and the Biebers stemming from past relationships - it's called moving on, folks.

The vitriol directed at the Biebers became so intense that Gomez felt compelled to address it on TikTok. The "Only Murders in the Building" actress wrote, “Please be kind and consider others' mental health. My heart has been heavy, and I only want good for everyone. All my love."

In response to the severe trolling targeting Gomez, Hailey Bieber also spoke out, stating: "If you’re leaving mean or rude comments on my behalf on anyone’s posts, just know that I don’t want that, nor do I ever or will I ever support or condone hateful, mean, or nasty comments. Doing that is not supporting me."
