Spotify’s Bold Video Push: Leaked Deck Reveals Ambitious Creator Strategy

The Ankler has uncovered a leaked Spotify pitch deck, signaling a major shift as the platform ramps up its efforts to attract video creators. Gone are the days of focusing solely on podcasts — Spotify now welcomes all types of video uploads, marking a bold expansion into new content territory.

What’s striking is the lack of exclusivity demands. Creators can earn revenue from ads, premium subscriptions, and additional bonuses based on video performance, all without tying their content to Spotify alone.

A sleek dashboard allows for detailed analytics tracking, while an info box with a comment section fosters engaged communities. Even better, creators can sell products directly through Megaphone, Spotify’s monetization tool.

Some creators are already reaping the rewards, with reports of earnings up to $75,000 in the last three months. Non-podcast videos are climbing the ranks, with celebrity chef Nick DiGiovanni’s content leading the Art category in the U.S. Other notable YouTubers, including Alan Chikin Chow, gaming tuber JackSepticEye, Ryan Trahan, and Game Theorists, have also been spotted on the platform.

Spotify’s strategy appears aimed at carving out a chunk of YouTube’s market, especially as the latter pivots toward TV content. With over 300 million users—more than 260 million of whom are premium subscribers — and a 44% year-over-year increase in watch time, the platform has a solid foundation.

For creators already producing videos, uploading to Spotify offers a less crowded space, a shot at recommendations, and solid revenue potential. This could be a game-changer for those with loyal followings but not the scale of a MrBeast.

This move gains extra context from Vidcon, where Spotify’s Head of Podcast Product, Maya Prohovnik, revealed that a yoga podcast recently cracked the top 10 shows. With 300 million users engaging with video content, fitness could emerge as a new trend.

If sports creators start uploading workout videos, Spotify might soon pose serious competition to YouTube’s dominance.
