xAI is rolling out its new video generator, Grok Imagine, to paid X subscribers, marking a significant step in enhancing the platform’s AI capabilities. Currently available in the Grok iOS app, this feature comes with specific usage limits based on subscription tiers: 50 generations for Premium users, 100 for Premium+, and 500 for Heavy users.
Grok Imagine offers versatile creation options, including text-to-image, text-to-video, and image-to-video transformations. Powered by the rapid Aurora engine, it generates images almost instantly, allowing users to seamlessly convert them into videos.
Each video clocks in at around 30 seconds, with four preset templates: Normal, Fun, Spicy, and Custom (prompt-based creation). The Spicy mode notably includes partial nudity, adding a risqué edge to its offerings. Videos are capped at six seconds in length and feature background audio tracks, though voiceovers are not yet supported.

Looking ahead, xAI has slated a full-fledged video generator for Grok on its roadmap, with a planned release in September 2025. For now, the focus remains on a warm-up phase, emphasizing vertical-format content tailored for mobile and social media use. This rollout signals xAI’s ambition to compete in the AI creative space, blending speed, flexibility, and a touch of controversy.
