xAI, led by Elon Musk, has announced the beta testing of a new feature for Grok called Imagine, enabling users to create both images and videos using the AI platform. This innovative addition marks a significant expansion of Grok’s capabilities, moving beyond text-based interactions into multimedia creation.
Access to the beta version is currently limited to paid subscribers of SuperGrok and X Premium+ through the iOS app.
Once their application is approved, users can generate images based on text or voice prompts, upload photos, and transform them into videos using a variety of templates, including normal, fun, spicy, and custom options.
The spicy mode stands out by allowing the generation of 18+ content, catering to more adventurous users.
Videos produced through Imagine are short, lasting only a few seconds, and include an audio track featuring music and background sounds — though no voiceovers are available. This limitation adds a unique flavor to the generated content, focusing on visual and ambient elements.

However, the feature’s popularity has led to challenges, with users currently experiencing server overload issues due to high demand. This technical hurdle reflects the excitement surrounding Grok Imagine, though it also highlights the need for xAI to scale its infrastructure to meet user expectations. As the beta phase progresses, it will be interesting to see how the company addresses these growing pains while balancing innovation with responsible usage.
