Hello!
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are today’s convergent technologies that are marching various industries and entrepreneurs in the paradigm to move forward.
These technologies have been greatly used:
- To enhance productivity in marketing and sales;
- To reduce high-rotational routine tasks in a minute;
- To understand customers’ preferences for schematics and prototypes.
In the context of User Experience design, emerging technologies like AI and ML are doing most of the great work, including complex ones.
Machine Learning gets ‘smarter’ and helps designers to create popping UI/UX design.
On that note, let’s dig deeper.
What’s The Role of Artificial Intelligence In Design?
AI is more powerful, smarter, and speedy than human neural-based works.
If you look into the past you would agree with the fact that AI has done many things for UI designers, UX professionals, and digital artists.
Productivity has been greatly increased and skills enhanced as well.
But new designs bring new challenges! Is AI capable of handling new challenges?
The answer would be YES.
The primary role of AI in the context of UI/UX design is to support product designers in everything they need help in though.
Starting from basic characteristics such as analyzing ideas, creating a wireframe, and setting up objectives to advance agenda such as creating product schematics and prototypes, conducting user testing, and more.
These parameters, when processed together with the power of Machine Learning algorithms and human creatives, help designers to make the product or service convenient, robust, and enjoyable to the end users.
Not only this, but AI also provides adhesive knowledge that they may seek answers for.
For instance; How does the user interact with the product? How does the user feel after the interaction? How to make design clear, accessible, and inclusive? What things involve creating the interface’s appearance and functionality?
As AI learns about your customer emotion, logic, agenda, and strategy, what you want to achieve through insightful data, it helps you gain prosperous results.
What’s The Role of Machine Learning In Design?
Machine Learning assists AI to deliver results confidently.
Machine learning is an AI technique that teaches computers to learn from inputs i.e data, which can be small and large.
So, how does it help designers to gain insightful information to trump objectives confidently?
The primitive target of UX designers is always to produce designs that impress end users. Whether it’s a website, product design, or digital art; end-user satisfaction is a must.
Machine learning uses two types of algorithm techniques; Supervised and Unsupervised learning.
- Supervised learning is a model in which both input and output are given to draw a conclusive conclusion for prediction.
- Unsupervised learning takes only inputs to find hidden patterns or intrinsic structures in the presented data.
Both types of techniques help ML understand the situation (structured data) to draw a better conclusion to achieve optimum results.
How AI and ML Can Augment UI/UX Design?
That we have learned about the role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, let’s shift our focus to some use cases of how these technologies can improve UI and UX design.
Automating the general tasks
Cropping images, resizing visuals, and drawing concepts, are some examples of how designers spend their time. AI can help designers by automating these routine tasks, thereby increasing efficiency.
These can be time-consuming tasks and possibly many designers can’t focus on other primitive tasks. If you’re using Adobe intelligent software, you can use Adobe Scene Stitch technology, which reads the patterns and concepts in an image. There are many AI tools produced by the Adobe community to help designers to do tasks in less time-taking experience.
In this way, AI can optimize routine tasks and enable designers to concentrate on other critical tasks.
Efficient data analysis
Another important characteristic of AI is that it can efficiently analyze data.
In UI/UX design, concepts, schematics, and prototype matter most. They act as a fundamental element to design a better picture of the outcomes.
This means a strong data assessment is required. Sometimes, it may not be possible for the human mind to crack the data in an efficient manner. Also, it takes a long time.
Utilizing AI technologies like AI tools and software could help read, cluster, and learn data effectively. In marketing, it matters most. Strategies are then derived after analyzing the data collected from the sources to procure the endeavor objectives.
Information Architecture (IA)
This is an important factor that lies in the context of UI/UX design.
Designers use information architecture to draft a solitaire navigation system in an attempt to provide an absolute experience to end-users.
Information Architecture guides them about the parameters, conceptual requirements, design aesthetics, and data-driven information for effective development.
It is crucial to understand IA at a deeper level before proceeding to design and development. Taking the help of AI, helps designers and businesses better allocate thinking, concepts, skills, and data focused on customer requirements.

Can Artificial Intelligence Overtake Human Creativity?
AI vs human creativity has been in controversy for the last two years.
Since Google deployed its AI-based ‘image from text’ technology on the web along with many other AI-based design trends software and tools, people are asking one question.
Can AI extinct human creativity?
Many philanthropists and researchers have expressed their thoughts on this. And the conclusion derived from their words is that AI is exceptionally great and has the potential to do extraordinary things for designers but it can’t replace human arts or creativity.
The reasons are simple and cognitive. Some of them are mentioned below:
- They can rarely come up with new ideas.
- May face culture and sentiments challenges.
- Required a different set of strategies to handle.
- This can also be a reason – BIAS identification.
In Conclusion
The AI paradigm is big and revolutionary. Of course, it is playing a big role in UI/UX design.
But as of now, fewer endeavors have been seen and few verticals are approaching AI into design.
As it is capable of handling most of the task of designers, it’s future is in a leap of bright light.
With more and more development and innovation yielding to make AI and its associates absolute experience for designers, soon it will be seen as a fire-weapon in every verticals.
