Britney Spears' former spouse has commented following reports that she has reconnected with their son.
Spears would likely say that reconnecting with Jayden Federline was long overdue, as they had gone years without any communication at one point.
Their reunion coincides with reports from various news sources stating that the 42-year-old will cease child support payments to her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, once Jayden graduates from high school this month.
Spears is believed to have paid an astonishing $5 million to Federline over the last 17 years for the support of their two children since their separation.
Clearly, courts consider income and other factors... but that's still a considerable sum to pay out.

Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007 and had two sons during their time together.
Due to Spears' challenges over the years, Federline was awarded full custody of their children in 2008, and the 'Toxic' singer has been paying child support to him ever since.
"The amount of money Britney has given Kevin for the two boys is extraordinary and sufficient for any man to support an entire family, which is what she believes he has done," a source near to Spears revealed to MailOnline.
Now, TMZ has reported that Jayden has returned from Hawaii to California and is working on mending his relationship with his mother.
A source also shared with Page Six: "They have been spending a lot of time together."
Another insider added: "Britney is thrilled to have her baby back. Everything is moving in the right direction."
This news prompted a response from Federline's side, with his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, stating to the media: "If there has been a reconciliation, it's news to Kevin."

He further clarified that Jayden and Federline communicate frequently, and at no point have they discussed a reconciliation between Jayden and his mother.
Since Spears lost custody of her children, their relationship has been strained, but Jayden has always held onto hope for a reconciliation.
Back in 2022, he told the Daily Mail: "I 100% think this can be fixed. It's just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better, I really want to see her again."
This comment followed revelations that Spears had been under a conservatorship, with her father Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew M. Wallet appointed as conservators, which lasted from February 2008 until it ended three years ago today (November 12, 2021).
The conservatorship meant that a judge had determined that they should oversee Spears' personal and financial matters because she was considered unable to fully manage her own affairs.
