WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature in its beta testing phase that allows users to set reminders for any message, complete with customizable timers.
The functionality, discovered in the latest Android beta version, enables users to long-press a message and select a “Remind me” option, choosing from preset intervals such as 2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours, or setting a custom time. Once activated, a small bell icon appears next to the message, and a notification tagged with “- Reminder” pops up when the timer expires, displaying the message content, chat details, and any attached media.

The feature was reportedly inspired by the needs of parental chat groups, where busy moms often struggle to keep track of collective tasks like collecting money for school curtains.
By allowing users to flag specific messages for follow-up, WhatsApp aims to reduce the risk of overlooking important discussions in bustling group chats. While still in testing, this tool could prove invaluable for organizing shared responsibilities, offering a practical solution for distracted parents and other community coordinators alike.
A broader rollout is expected if the beta phase succeeds, potentially transforming how users manage their conversations.
