Put an Audio Podcast on YouTube Without Re-uploading Every Episode

You can connect an existing audio podcast RSS feed to YouTube instead of manually uploading each episode. YouTube turns the episodes you select into static-image videos using the show artwork, then automatically uploads new episodes added to the connected feed.

The connection is not a complete mirror of your hosting account. New episodes flow to YouTube, but replacement audio and show-level changes do not update automatically, so settle the ownership email, artwork, promotion disclosure, back-catalog range and initial visibility before publication.

Complete the feed preflight

First, confirm that RSS ingestion is available in your channel’s country or region and that the channel has advanced feature access. Then inspect the public feed or your host’s preview for the correct show title, description, artwork, episode titles and release dates. Fix outdated or malformed data before connecting the feed.

  • Ownership email: YouTube sends the verification code to the email address contained in the RSS feed. Make sure an appropriate member of the publishing team can receive it.
  • Show artwork: confirm that the feed contains the cover you want displayed throughout the generated static-image videos.
  • Paid promotion: identify sponsorships, endorsements and host-read promotions that must be disclosed under YouTube’s policies.
  • Back catalog: decide whether to import every existing episode, those published since a chosen date or only future releases.
  • Existing uploads: note any episodes already on the channel so that the imported catalog does not create unwanted duplicates.

YouTube’s RSS delivery guidance confirms the location and feature-access limits, static-image video creation, automatic upload of new feed items and the need to disclose paid promotions. If RSS delivery is not the right production model, compare native video and RSS import before connecting the catalog.

Connect the feed in YouTube Studio

In YouTube Studio, select Create, New podcast and Submit RSS feed. Accept the RSS ingestion terms, paste the feed URL and request an ownership code. The code goes to the address exposed by the feed, which may differ from the email used for the YouTube account.

  1. Enter the verification code and confirm ownership.
  2. Choose all existing episodes, episodes published since a particular date or future episodes only.
  3. Select the paid-promotion option if most episodes in the feed contain paid promotion.
  4. Review the visibility details and save the connection.
  5. Wait for the selected episodes to finish uploading, then publish the podcast from the Podcasts area in Studio.

YouTube’s publishing instructions document this sequence and warn that the initial upload may take a few days. YouTube emails the owner when the podcast is ready, but the imported show remains unpublished until the publisher completes the separate publication step.

Review the imported catalog before publication

Selected episodes initially arrive as private videos. Use that review window to inspect titles, descriptions, release dates, playback and the artwork-based presentation. Check the channel’s Videos area for copyright or monetization issues before exposing the archive.

Hubhopper’s host-side walkthrough independently describes feed validation, review of the imported show and episodes, visibility selection and automatic delivery of later releases. Its suggested ingestion times are estimates rather than a guaranteed publishing window, so wait for Studio to show that processing is complete.

For a long-running show, importing the full archive can expose obsolete links, expired calls to action and inconsistent titles all at once. A date-limited import is more controlled when only the recent catalog is ready for YouTube. Future-only delivery is useful when older episodes already have native videos or should remain off the channel.

Know which later feed changes will not synchronize

An imported YouTube podcast episode retains its earlier audio until the publisher re-uploads it from the RSS feed.

New episodes are the automated part of the connection: when a new item appears in the RSS feed, YouTube uploads it to the channel. Show-level changes are different. Editing the show title or description at the host does not automatically update the corresponding podcast details on YouTube.

Replacement audio also does not overwrite an existing YouTube video. After updating the file at the host, open the podcast’s Videos area in Studio, find the episode menu and choose Re-upload from RSS feed. YouTube creates a new video and makes the old one private, leaving its views and comments available to the channel owner.

Episode metadata has another boundary. Episode details can update from the RSS feed, but editing an episode directly in YouTube Studio blocks later feed edits for that episode. Choose whether the host or Studio will control an item before making a manual correction.

Deleting an imported video is not a reliable way to hide it while the episode remains in the feed: YouTube may upload it again. Set the video to private instead, or remove the episode from the source feed if it should no longer be delivered. Disconnecting the RSS feed stops new uploads but does not remove episodes from the original feed.

Keep the host as the release source

After setup, finalize each episode’s audio and metadata at the podcast host before publishing it. Let the connected feed deliver the completed release, then check Studio for the correct episode, playback and intended visibility.

Use the host for feed-controlled episode details, YouTube Studio for show-level presentation and the re-upload command for replacement audio. That division preserves automatic delivery without treating the imported YouTube catalog as a two-way copy of the feed.
