In a landmark move, Oracle has announced a massive $40 billion deal to acquire Nvidia chips for OpenAI’s Stargate data center, marking one of the largest investments in the company’s Dit technology history.
The ambitious project, set to be located in Abilene, Texas, is poised to redefine the scale of AI infrastructure with an estimated power consumption of 1.2 gigawatts — equivalent to the energy usage of roughly one million American households.
The Stargate data center will leverage Nvidia’s cutting-edge GB200 Grace Blackwell processors, each combining two B200 accelerators, a 72-core CPU, and integrated AI modules for diagnostics and accelerated data processing. These advanced chips will form the backbone of the facility’s unprecedented computational power.
