It’s now free to Sell on Google

Hello!
The retail sector has faced mounting challenges over the years, challenges that intensified sharply during the coronavirus pandemic. With physical stores closed, digital commerce emerged as a vital lifeline for retailers worldwide.
Shifting Consumer Behavior in 2026

Google’s Commitment to Free Listings
In response to these ongoing challenges, Google is making it free for merchants to sell on its platform. Starting next week, search results on the Google Shopping tab will prioritize free listings, enabling merchants to reach consumers more effectively—whether or not they run paid ads.
With hundreds of millions of shopping searches conducted on Google each day, many retailers hold inventory ready for immediate shipping yet remain difficult to discover online. This update delivers free access to millions of daily Google visitors for retailers, a broader selection of products for shoppers, and the ability for advertisers to complement paid campaigns with free listings.
How Merchants Can Get Started

These changes will roll out before the end of April 2026, with a global expansion planned before the end of 2026. Full details on free product listings and participation in Shopping ads are available in the Help Center.

New Partnership and Continued Collaboration
Google is also launching a new partnership with PayPal that lets merchants link their accounts directly. This integration will accelerate onboarding while maintaining high-quality results for users.
In addition, Google continues to collaborate closely with partners such as Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce to help merchants manage products and inventory more efficiently—making digital commerce accessible and affordable for businesses of all sizes.
