Donald Trump Comments on Vice President JD Vance's Potential as His Successor in the 2028 Presidential Election.

When Donald Trump was elected in 2016, he had Mike Pence as his vice president, continuing this partnership into the 2020 election.

However, after losing to Joe Biden and following the January 6 Capitol riots, Trump and Pence parted ways.

JD Vance, then a senator from Ohio, was chosen by Trump as his running mate for the 2024 election. After defeating Kamala Harris, Vance became the Vice President.

With Trump ineligible to run for president again in 2028, many consider Vance the leading candidate for the Republican nomination.

However, Trump appears to have a different perspective. During an interview with Fox News, recorded before the Super Bowl on February 9, the 78-year-old was questioned by Bret Baier: "Do you see Vice President JD Vance as your successor, the Republican nominee in 2028?"

The president's response was unexpected, stating, "No, but he's very capable. I mean, I don't think that it, you know, I think you have a lot of very capable people. So far, I think he's doing a fantastic job. It's too early, we're just starting."

Despite working together in government, Vance has not always been a supporter of Trump. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

The Vice President once stated, "I’m a 'never Trump' guy. I never liked him. My god what an idiot. I find him reprehensible." Vance held this view of his current boss until late 2020, as revealed by text messages obtained by the Washington Post. However, he has since changed his stance dramatically.

Now, on his first international trip as Trump's vice president, Vance is engaging with global leaders at an AI summit in Paris and the Munich Security Conference, where he is scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron.

Regarding the trip, Vance explained to Breitbart last week, "At the AI Summit, the main reason I’m going is actually to have some private conversations with the world leaders who are also going to be there."

"I think there’s a lot that some of the leaders who are present at the AI summit could do to, frankly, bring the Russia-Ukraine conflict to a close, help us diplomatically there."
