Doctor reveals 10 minute power napping technique that Navy SEALs ‘swear by’ to feel refreshed

Hello!

Doctor reveals 10 minute power napping technique that Navy SEALs ‘swear by’ to feel refreshedThere's a 10-minute power napping technique used by the Navy SEALs that delivers an effective “quick energy boost” — and it's backed by a doctor.

With the festive season in full swing and Christmas preparations adding extra pressure, finding time for proper rest can be tough. This simple 10-minute method offers a fast way to recharge when sleep is in short supply.

The technique

Dr Joe shared the hack on TikTok last month, noting that it’s one “many of our elite forces swear by.” To try it, find the edge of a bed or couch, lie on your back on the floor, and rest your legs on the surface above you so they are elevated.

Why it’s so effective

First, it reduces swelling in the legs and improves blood flow back to the core, both of which promote relaxation. Second, limiting the nap to 10 minutes helps you wake during the lighter stage of sleep, leaving you refreshed rather than groggy.

The caption added: “Studies show that short naps improve alertness and mood without the grogginess of deeper sleep. This trick is ideal for a fast reset when you’re low on time, helping you feel refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of your day.”

The post quickly drew plenty of reactions from social media users.

One TikTok user said: “If only it didn’t take me 3hrs to fall asleep I could enjoy a 10 min nap. The relaxation looks nice though.”

While a third commented: “It will take me 30 minutes to get back up off the floor for that 10 minute nap.”

A fourth wrote: “When my back is out I do this for 15 minutes 2-3 times a day and usually by day two I am back to 100 percent. And apparently rested!”

And a fifth, who seemingly tried and tested the method, revealed: “Spouse said I was out in under nine minutes, a deep sleep.”

Whether you can actually drift off in this unusual position is another matter. However, Sleep Advisor recommends an adjustable bed or mattress to help.
