Anthropic Launches Claude AI Agent for Chrome Browser

Anthropic has introduced an AI agent powered by Claude as a research preview, available as a Chrome extension. Integrated into a side panel, the agent maintains context of all browser activity, enabling seamless chat interactions. With user permission, it can perform certain tasks autonomously.

Anthropic has prioritized safety, allowing users to restrict the agent’s access to specific sites. By default, financial services and NSFW content are blocked. For "risky" actions like posting data or making purchases, the agent requests user approval.

Access to Claude for Chrome is currently limited to 1,000 Max plan subscribers, with a waitlist open at https://claude.ai/chrome for others.
