Hello!
An insider near Angelina Jolie has stated that she hopes Brad Pitt will end his 'attacks' on her now that they've settled their divorce, which lasted for years.
On December 31, 2024, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott J. Nord finalized the settlement, the day after both Jolie and Pitt agreed to it, concluding a process that began when Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 over 'irreconcilable differences'.
The pair, who were together for 12 years and married for 2, have, according to the Associated Press, waived any future claims to spousal support in their agreement.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016
Angelina Jolie's legal representative, James Simon, described her as 'exhausted' after a prolonged legal battle involving child custody, disagreements regarding her ownership in a French winery, and allegations stemming from a 2016 incident on a private plane. He noted that she feels 'relieved this chapter is closed'.
Following the settlement, someone close to Jolie spoke to PEOPLE, expressing her desire to progress. They accused: "Brad has leveraged his influence and resources to obscure his actions, detrimentally affecting their family, retaliating against Angelina for initiating the separation, and trying to shift the blame onto her for his strained relationship with their kids.
"Angelina is hopeful that with the divorce now settled, he will cease his aggression towards her and contribute to mending their family."
In response, a source aligned with Pitt countered to the magazine, claiming that Jolie has been launching 'one-sided attacks for eight years'.
The source alleged that these 'attacks' involved a 'continuous twisting of the truth and attributing their own actions to others, resulting in significant unintended harm to those within and around the family'.
Moreover, a source near Pitt informed PEOPLE that the contention over the French winery - where Jolie was accused of violating an agreement by selling her stake - was highlighted as a prime example of one of Jolie's 'assaults'.
"Brad created a remarkable, increasingly lucrative enterprise, and she consciously ignored their mutual agreement. Rather than finalizing discussions for him to buy her out, thereby keeping Miraval within the family and concluding their disputes, she opted to sell to an outsider with no connection to the company’s ethos, just to secure personal gain and to spite him," the source stated.
