Alibaba has officially entered the smart glasses arena with the announcement of its first-ever Quark smart glasses, set to launch in China by the end of 2025. Positioned as a direct competitor to the popular Ray-Ban smart glasses, this innovative device aims to carve out a significant niche in the wearable tech market.

Under the hood, the Quark glasses are powered by Alibaba’s advanced Qwen large language model and its Quark AI assistant, enabling a range of features including hands-free calling, music streaming, real-time translation, and seamless shopping capabilities.

The glasses are deeply integrated with Alibaba’s ecosystem, allowing users to make payments via Alipay, compare prices on the Taobao marketplace, and navigate with the Amap mapping service — all without needing a smartphone.
