Twitch Opens Sponsorships to Affiliates—but Certification Is Mandatory

On August 20, 2026, Twitch opened Creator Sponsorships to Affiliates worldwide, allowing qualified creators to be discovered by brands, run campaigns and receive payment through the platform. The official August 20 launch announcement makes certification a condition of Affiliate eligibility and limits campaign access to creators who meet each brand’s criteria.
The rollout removes the program’s general Partner-only boundary, but it does not give every Affiliate an offer. Northeast Times’ independent coverage confirms that brands can now discover and invite Affiliates directly through Twitch when those channels satisfy campaign requirements.
What changed for Twitch Affiliates

Affiliate status can now lead into Twitch’s built-in sponsorship workflow without first advancing to Partner. A qualifying Affiliate can appear in brand discovery, receive a matched opportunity and handle the campaign through the Sponsorship Dashboard.
The wider access follows the one-off Minecraft campaigns “Tiny Takeover” and “More Minecraft, More Challenges.” More than half of the paid streamers participating in those campaigns were Affiliates, providing an earlier test of brand demand below the Partner tier.
The practical distinction is between eligibility and paid work. Opening the sponsorship pipeline means Affiliates may be considered; it does not guarantee that a channel will match a campaign, be invited, accept the terms, complete the required content or receive payment.
Certification is the Affiliate eligibility gate

An Affiliate must accept the Sponsorship Portal terms and become Creator Sponsorship Certified before qualifying under the expanded program. Fully certified status also requires a completed Creator Profile, which can be finished before or after the course.
Twitch’s Creator Certification documentation describes a self-paced Creator Camp course covering sponsorship formats, brand discovery, campaign acceptance and execution, unexpected situations and brand-suitable content. The full route takes approximately 10–15 minutes, quiz attempts are unlimited, certification lasts 12 months, and advertisers can see the resulting badge in the matchmaking tool.
For an Affiliate, the setup sequence is:
- Open the Sponsorship Portal and accept its terms.
- Complete the Creator Profile with channel information and partnership interests.
- Finish the Creator Sponsorship Certification course and its quizzes.
- Return to the Portal and verify that certified status appears on the Creator Profile.
The broader certification FAQ notes that certification is not required for every sponsorship campaign available through Twitch. The Affiliate rollout applies a narrower rule: certification is mandatory for Affiliates seeking opportunities through this newly expanded access.
Brands match campaigns through Creator Profiles

Certification makes an Affiliate eligible for consideration, while the Creator Profile gives advertisers material for deciding whether the channel fits a campaign. Creators can describe their content and sponsorship interests and select clips for Sponsorship Highlights to demonstrate how branded content may appear on their channel.
A completed profile is not an open marketplace where every creator can claim any campaign. When an opportunity matches a profile, the Affiliate can receive an email and an in-product notification, but the brand’s own criteria still determine who receives an invitation.
An invitation is another intermediate stage, not a payment notice. The creator must review the campaign terms, accept the offer and complete its specified deliverables before the workflow can reach payment. No universal Affiliate sponsorship rate or minimum invitation frequency has been published.
Wehype adds third-party offers to the dashboard
Twitch is also bringing offers from creator-marketing platform Wehype into the Third Party Campaigns area of the Sponsorship Dashboard. Tbreak’s launch report identifies an EA opportunity for Battlefield as the first campaign highlighted with the integration and notes that campaign payment is set individually rather than through a standard Affiliate rate.
The integration adds another route through which an eligible Affiliate may encounter an offer, but it does not turn third-party campaigns into automatic Twitch assignments. Creators still need to meet the relevant brand criteria and receive an invitation, while the campaign materials determine the responsible service, deliverables and payment conditions.
Execution and payment remain conditional
After accepting a campaign, the creator must follow its brief and complete the required sponsored stream or content. Twitch’s expanded access changes which creator tier can enter that process; it does not remove campaign-specific delivery requirements.
Sponsored livestreams also remain subject to platform disclosure rules. Twitch’s Branded Content Guidelines require the branded-content disclosure tool when a livestream includes branded content, require promoted products and services to be permitted, and leave creators and brands responsible for applicable advertising laws.
As of August 24, the confirmed position is that Affiliates worldwide can enter Twitch’s sponsorship pipeline after completing the Portal, profile and certification requirements. Discovery, a brand match, an invitation, campaign acceptance, successful delivery and payment remain separate stages, and the platform has not disclosed how many Affiliates will ultimately receive offers.
