Agentforce ARR Tops $1.5B—But Its Definition Now Includes Slackbot

Salesforce’s official Q2 FY27 results, released August 26, put Agentforce annual recurring revenue above $1.5 billion, up more than 240% year over year. Effective in the quarter, the definition includes the company’s AI offerings, Slackbot and Headless 360.

An independent TechMarketView account of the results recorded the same ARR milestone and growth rate, along with 3.2 billion Agentic Work Units in the quarter, up 97% sequentially. The figures show expansion across Salesforce’s currently defined AI portfolio, but the scope change limits direct comparisons with earlier Agentforce disclosures.

What the ARR milestone measures

Salesforce’s Q2 FY27 materials separate Agentforce ARR above $1.5 billion from total quarterly revenue.

Agentforce ARR is an annualized contract measure, not revenue recognized during the quarter. The metric captures the recurring annual value of qualifying active subscription agreements executed by the reporting date. It therefore describes the run-rate value of a defined contract base rather than sales recorded under accounting rules during a three-month period.

The boundary also extends beyond a single, stand-alone Agentforce product. The current definition covers qualifying Agentforce subscriptions, generative-AI products and features, Slackbot and Headless 360. Headless 360 is also named within the broader combined Agentforce and Data 360 ARR definition.

Total company revenue answers a different question: how much revenue Salesforce recognized across its operations during the reporting period. ARR annualizes qualifying recurring contracts active at period-end, so the Agentforce figure cannot be treated as recognized quarterly sales or simply added to quarterly revenue. It is an operating metric with its own product perimeter and timing convention.

The wider scope complicates historical comparisons

Salesforce’s Q1 and Q2 Agentforce figures are compared alongside the expanded Q2 scope covering Slackbot and Headless 360.

The year-over-year growth rate applies to the measure as presented for Q2 FY27. Because Slackbot and Headless 360 are explicitly included beginning this quarter, the current named product set is wider than the perimeter described in the immediately preceding earnings release.

Salesforce’s Q1 FY27 disclosure placed Agentforce ARR at $1.2 billion, up 205% year over year, while its metric definition referred to Agentforce and generative-AI products and features without naming Slackbot or Headless 360. The Q2 wording introduces both offerings into the stated Agentforce boundary.

That difference means the movement from the first-quarter figure to the second-quarter milestone is not a clean sequential comparison of an unchanged portfolio. No restated Q1 Agentforce ARR using the expanded Q2 definition is available in the published results, nor is there a component-level allocation showing how much of the change came from added scope, new contracts, renewals or customer expansion.

The narrow conclusion is the defensible one: the portfolio now counted as Agentforce has passed the headline ARR threshold and carries the stated year-over-year growth rate. The available disclosures do not establish that a constant set of Agentforce products grew at the same pace.

Agentic Work Units track activity rather than dollars

Salesforce counts production AI tasks as Agentic Work Units separately from subscription ARR.

Agentic Work Units form a separate operating measure across Agentforce and Slack. Each unit represents a discrete task executed by an AI agent in production, such as resolving a customer case, updating a record or triggering an automated workflow.

The quarterly increase therefore indicates that measured production activity expanded. It does not state the annualized value of subscription contracts, recognized revenue or profit generated by those tasks. A contract may support many work units, while the commercial value depends on pricing, credits and terms that are not contained in the activity count.

The three metrics should remain separate in any reading of the quarter. Agentforce ARR measures the annualized recurring value of qualifying active subscriptions; total revenue records sales recognized across Salesforce; and Agentic Work Units count completed production tasks across the company’s agent products and Slack.

The market reaction covered more than Agentforce

Investors responded to the full earnings package rather than to the ARR figure alone. Salesforce shares rose 22.6% on August 27 after stronger-than-expected profit and an increased full-year revenue forecast, while Associated Press market coverage described it as the stock’s best day in six years and highlighted management’s message about AI demand.

The share-price move consequently cannot be attributed solely to Agentforce contract growth. Profit performance, the higher outlook and an expanded Anthropic partnership were also part of the news investors were assessing.

The unresolved issue is like-for-like comparability. Salesforce has provided the current portfolio total, its growth rate and the newly named offerings inside the definition, but not a historical series recalculated on the same perimeter. Until such a series or a component breakdown appears, the milestone is best understood as a measure of Salesforce’s expanded Agentforce portfolio, not a constant-scope scorecard for the narrower business described in previous quarters.
