Rockstar Games has finally released the highly anticipated second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on May 6, 2025, giving fans a fresh look at the game ahead of its confirmed release date on May 26, 2026.

The three-minute cinematic trailer, which dropped just days after the announcement of the game’s delay from its original fall 2025 window, offers a deeper dive into the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and the criminal lives of protagonists Jason and Lucia.

The trailer opens with Jason, one of the game’s two main characters, taking on odd jobs before cruising through Vice City — a Miami-inspired setting that echoes its 2002 GTA: Vice City predecessor with an art deco, neon-lit beachfront.

We see glimpses of Leonida, the fictional U.S. state based on Florida, featuring diverse regions like the Grassrivers swampland (inspired by the Everglades), the Leonida Keys, the industrial Ambrosia, the seedy Port Gellhorn, and the mountainous Kalaga National Park.

Each area promises unique factions, from "hillbilly mystics" to biker gangs, hinting at a richly varied open world.

While the trailer lacks gameplay footage, focusing instead on cinematic sequences typically seen between story missions, fans have praised the next-generation graphics and detailed environments.

Rockstar also updated its website with 70 new screenshots and character descriptions, further fueling excitement.

The trailer’s soundtrack, featuring songs like The Pointer Sisters’ "Hot Together" and Wang Chung’s "Everybody Have Fun Tonight," sets a vibrant tone for the game’s satirical take on contemporary American culture, with nods to social media, influencer culture, and Internet memes like Florida Man.

The release of this trailer comes on the heels of Rockstar’s announcement that GTA 6 would be delayed to May 2026, a decision that disappointed many but was justified by the studio’s commitment to delivering a polished experience.

The first trailer, released in December 2023, had already broken records with over 100 million views, introducing Jason and Lucia — a couple navigating a life of crime. This second trailer builds on their story, showing Jason’s early struggles and hinting at the duo’s deeper motivations.

Despite the delay, the new trailer has reignited anticipation for what’s expected to be a groundbreaking title.

Set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, GTA 6 aims to push the boundaries of open-world gaming with its immersive storytelling and expansive world.

However, the lack of a PC release date—potentially not until 2027 or later—has left some fans frustrated, as has Rockstar’s history of prioritizing consoles.

Additionally, the delay has raised questions about whether the gaming industry’s recent challenges, including studio closures and economic pressures, might impact the final product.

As the wait continues, this second trailer offers a tantalizing preview of what’s to come, ensuring that GTA 6 remains one of the most eagerly awaited entertainment releases of the decade.

Fans will undoubtedly spend the next year dissecting every frame, eagerly awaiting more details from Rockstar as the May 2026 release date approaches.
