Google’s Gemini Startup Forum Is Open—But Only Seed-to-Series A Fits

Applications are open for Google’s 2026 Gemini Startup Forum, but the eligibility window is narrow: applicants must be founders of Seed-to-Series A startups that treat AI as a core pillar of growth. The official program timeline and eligibility criteria set the deadline at August 28, 2026, place the two-day, in-person forum in Sunnyvale, United States, in November 2026, and schedule selection for August through September.

Selected founders will meet Google AI experts, examine how to integrate and scale with AI, discuss organizational design and funding practices, collaborate with peers and provide product feedback. Google’s July 23 forum announcement describes applicants from around the world, but the event itself remains in person rather than virtual.

Run the five-part fit check

A credible applicant can answer yes to all five questions below. These questions translate the published conditions into a go-or-skip test; they do not add eligibility rules.

  • Stage: Is the company currently between Seed and Series A, rather than preparing for its first Seed round or already beyond Series A?
  • Applicant: Is a founder available to represent the company in strategic and technical discussions?
  • AI strategy: Does AI already have a central role in the product or growth model?
  • Attendance: Can that founder participate in person in Sunnyvale for the full forum?
  • Timing: Can the team submit a coherent application before the deadline and remain available during the selection period?

Stage and attendance are the clearest filters. Pre-seed startups and companies beyond Series A fall outside the specified range, while a founder unable to travel cannot use an in-person place even if the company is otherwise compelling.

The AI test requires more judgment. Merely using an external model or adding an AI-labelled feature does not demonstrate that AI is a core growth pillar. The application should establish a defensible connection between the technology, customer value and the way the company expects to scale.

Show why AI is central to growth

Prepare the evidence before opening the application form. The goal is not a long technical dossier, but a concise explanation of why the company’s growth depends on AI without presenting experiments as released capabilities.

  1. Define the customer problem and identify the part of the solution that depends on AI.
  2. Describe one AI-enabled workflow or capability already in use, separating shipped functionality from pilots and future plans.
  3. Explain how that capability supports a growth mechanism such as adoption, retention, service capacity or expansion.
  4. Name a technical or strategic constraint that discussion with the program’s experts could help resolve.
  5. Identify useful product feedback the startup could give the teams developing Gemini.

A strong account connects three elements: a real customer outcome, a specific role for AI and a scaling decision the founder needs to make. A generic description of an “AI-powered” company leaves that connection unclear, while an elaborate model description without a growth case does not establish strategic fit.

Use company metrics only when they are accurate and relevant to a question in the form. If a capability remains experimental, label it accordingly; a precise account of an unresolved constraint is more credible than presenting a roadmap as a finished product.

Understand what selection provides

The Gemini Startup Forum is an application-based gathering, not a general-admission conference or a conventional accelerator cohort. Its practical value lies in direct discussion with Google AI experts, guidance on integrating and scaling with AI, peer collaboration and an opportunity to influence Gemini through product feedback.

That format is most useful when the founder brings a concrete decision: moving an AI feature into a core workflow, scaling an AI-dependent product, resolving an integration constraint or organizing a team around deeper use of AI. A company seeking only a credential, introductory AI education or broad networking has a weaker match with the program’s design.

Investment, customer introductions, travel funding and admission to a longer accelerator are not among the listed benefits. Evaluate the opportunity on the activities the forum actually includes, rather than benefits associated with other startup programs.

Resolve travel before investing time

An international founder checks travel readiness and holds November availability for the in-person Gemini Startup Forum in Sunnyvale.

“Global” describes where founders may come from; it does not describe the delivery format. International applicants should therefore treat the ability to reach Sunnyvale and attend the complete in-person gathering as a practical condition of applying.

Confirm that the prospective attendee can step away from operating duties, meet the requirements for entering the United States and cover the trip if assistance is unavailable. Airfare, accommodation, local transport reimbursement and visa support are not listed among the program benefits, so clarify any available support before making non-refundable commitments.

The schedule identifies the forum month but not its exact days. Hold the period provisionally if practical, then wait for written confirmation of selection, dates and participation terms before booking. If more than one founder could attend, choose the person able to discuss both the AI implementation and the company-level decisions behind it.

Use the calendar as a final filter

  • July 22: Applications opened.
  • Before August 28: Confirm the funding stage, select the prospective attendee and assemble evidence that AI is central to growth.
  • August 28: Applications close. Submit early enough that an unspecified cutoff time or time zone does not become a risk.
  • August–September: Selection takes place; monitor the applicant’s email and keep supporting information accessible.
  • After selection: Confirm the exact November dates, travel requirements, participation terms and costs before booking.

Apply if the company is genuinely between Seed and Series A, AI has a central growth role, a founder can attend in Sunnyvale and the team can articulate a substantive scaling question. If either the stage or in-person requirement fails, this edition is not a fit regardless of the company’s broader potential.
