Finnish mining companies are pioneering a sustainable innovation by harnessing the heat generated from their operations to warm residential areas.
Firms like Hashlabs, Terahash, MARA, and MinersLoop are channeling heat from water-cooled ASIC miners into urban heating networks, providing warmth to homes in towns with populations of up to 50,000 people.
This initiative now benefits approximately 140,000 citizens - about 2.5% of Finland’s population - offering an eco-friendly heating solution. Modern ASIC miners can heat water up to 70°C, unlocking potential uses beyond homes, including drying timber and heating swimming pools.
This resourceful approach highlights a growing trend of integrating cryptocurrency mining with renewable energy practices in the region.
