Months following the emergence of numerous drones that fueled conspiracy theories and speculation nationwide, Donald Trump has provided clarity on these enigmatic sightings.

Upon his return to the White House post-inauguration on January 20, Trump began enacting new policies and aimed to inform his supporters.

The White House press secretary released an explanation for the drone incidents. Trump has already taken action by signing an executive order to declassify documents related to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. Now, his administration has tackled yet another topic of public intrigue by addressing the drone mystery.

The drones first caught public attention just before Thanksgiving last year, when several large drones were observed in New Jersey, sparking concern among residents.

At that time, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in New Jersey announced that federal and state law enforcement would investigate the drone activities, which raised concerns about their potential non-US governmental origins.

The sightings persisted over subsequent weeks, eventually expanding to include Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York.

What has Trump said about the drones?

Before his second term, when the drones first emerged, Trump criticized the then-current government for not providing an explanation, stating on his Truth Social platform: "Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!"

Now back in office, during the first press briefing of his second term, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified the situation around the drones. She stated that many of these devices were actually under the supervision of authorities.

What were the drones doing?

Leavitt conveyed the information "directly from the President of the United States," providing an update on the New Jersey drones.

She explained that these drones were deployed for "research" purposes, as authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

She elaborated, "After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons."

Additionally, Leavitt noted that "Many of these drones were also hobbyists, recreational and private individuals that enjoy flying drones. In time, it got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy."

Theories about the drones circulated widely among social media users and experts, ranging from extraterrestrial visitors to reconnaissance by foreign nations.

Retired Navy SEAL Clint Emerson proposed that the drones might be collecting mobile phone data, whereas former CIA operations officer Laura Ballman theorized that they could be part of "a classified exercise to test either evasion technology or detection technology in urban areas."

With Donald Trump having now addressed the issue, it is hoped that this will help to alleviate some of the fears and concerns surrounding the drones.
