Chinese researchers have pioneered a revolutionary technology featuring cyber-bees — actual insects fitted with a brain chip and remote control system. This breakthrough blends biology with advanced engineering, opening new frontiers in science.
The core of the technology involves a brain controller, weighing a mere 74 mg — the lightest in the world — attached to the bee’s back. This device pierces the insect’s brain with three needles, transmitting commands to steer its flight direction. In testing, an impressive 9 out of 10 bees followed instructions with precision.
The initiative serves multiple purposes. It is primarily aimed at military intelligence, utilizing the bees’ natural maneuverability for espionage. Additionally, the technology could assist in locating survivors after disasters by navigating difficult terrains. Enhanced with cameras, microphones, and sensors, these cyber-bees function as miniature flying spy drones, capable of real-time data collection.
