Barry Keoghan Releases Detailed Statement Denouncing 'Lies, Hatred, and Disgusting Commentary' After Alleged Breakup with Sabrina Carpenter

Keoghan was compelled to deactivate his Instagram due to a flood of abusive comments stemming from rumors of infidelity towards his former partner, Sabrina Carpenter.

An insider revealed to Us Weekly that he had been 'very devoted to her happiness,' but the breakup occurred because they were 'at different stages in their lives.'

"It’s been tough on their relationship since she began her tour and has been frequently away," the source added.

"Their schedules didn't match up, and the constant separation made it difficult to sustain their relationship while her career was taking off."

They further noted that the singer was 'stretched in multiple directions' and lacked the time to 'fully engage in a relationship.'

Nonetheless, the Saltburn actor has made a public plea on Twitter for fans to 'show respect,' admitting he can 'only endure so much.'

Keoghan explained his need to speak out because his reputation was being 'smeared' online, especially after incidents like his grandmother's home being targeted, indicating that 'boundaries were being overstepped.'

"I have deactivated my account because I can't allow this negativity to interfere with my family and my career. No one should ever have to endure the messages I've received," he stated.

"Completely false accusations, hate, revolting remarks about my looks, my character, my parenting, and every other degrading comment imaginable."

The 32-year-old criticized those who have been 'slandering [his] reputation and all the effort [he] put into his work and what he stands for,' noting that individuals have brought up his past, including claims of being born addicted to drugs, his upbringing, and even dragged his mother into the fray. He also mentioned people harassing his grandmother at her home and stalking his son to intimidate him.

"That's going too far. Every single day, I strive to improve myself in every aspect to be the best, healthiest, and strongest role model for that boy," he wrote.

"I aim to give him chances to learn, make mistakes, and grow. I want him to look up to his dad, trust me completely, and know that I'll always support him."

The Irish actor wrapped up his statement by pointing out that his son will eventually read all the online comments about his father, urging fans once more to act respectfully.
