Meta’s Edits Film Festival Picks 10–20 Reels—and Entries Close October 8

Meta’s official notice dated August 24, 2026 opens the Edits Film Festival to content creators across India, sets a 45-day submission window ending October 8 and states that 10–20 Reels will be selected for an exclusive festival screening. Entries must be original, freshly created during the window and made entirely in Edits.

To enter, creators must publish the Reel with a caption describing the content and naming the Edits features used, include #EditsFilmFestival and tag both @metaindia and @weareyuvaa. The jury will assess the story’s originality, the transformation of ordinary footage and the creative use of the app’s tools; screening is the confirmed benefit for every selected Reel, while additional recognition and feature access are limited to some makers.

Who can enter and what must be published

An original Reel prepared for entry with the required Edits feature description, festival hashtag and account tags.

The invitation is addressed broadly to content creators across India. The available guidelines do not set a minimum follower count, require agency representation or distinguish between professional and emerging creators.

They also do not define age, citizenship or residency conditions beyond the phrase “across India.” Creators should therefore avoid treating the broad invitation as proof of eligibility under circumstances the published material does not address.

Exhibit Tech’s summary of the entry rules independently lists the originality requirement, the Edits workflow, the caption disclosure, the hashtag and both account tags. Taken together, those requirements produce a compact pre-publication checklist:

  1. Create a new, original Reel during the submission window.
  2. Use Edits for the entire production workflow.
  3. Transform ordinary or unremarkable footage into a visually distinctive result.
  4. Describe the Reel and identify the Edits features used in the caption.
  5. Include #EditsFilmFestival.
  6. Tag @metaindia and @weareyuvaa.
  7. Publish the finished Reel by October 8, 2026.

Publication matters: saving a draft or sending a video privately does not satisfy the instruction to create and publish a Reel. The available material does not specify whether one creator may submit multiple entries, whether collaborations qualify or whether an account must remain public.

The Edits-only rule covers the production workflow

Ordinary footage transformed into a polished Reel through an Edits-only production workflow.

The requirement is stronger than merely opening the video in Edits or using the app for one finishing step. A submitted Reel must be made entirely in Edits, and the caption must identify the features that contributed to the finished work.

The listed tools include filters, effects, fonts, audio effects, overlays and music available within the app. Entrants are being asked to demonstrate how those tools change everyday, accidental or otherwise unremarkable footage into a deliberate short-form story.

No formal disqualification table or complete competition terms have been published. Even so, editing part of the finished Reel in another application, recycling work created before the submission period, omitting a required tag or failing to disclose the Edits features used would conflict with the stated entry conditions. The available rules do not establish whether every such conflict leads automatically to rejection.

The originality requirement creates another boundary without fully defining it. The material must be freshly created, but the guidelines do not explain how pre-existing source clips, licensed music, templates, collaborative footage or third-party intellectual property will be treated.

What the jury will assess

The judging framework has three connected elements: how distinctive the story is, how effectively ordinary and unpolished footage is transformed, and how creatively Edits features bring that transformation to life. Technical polish alone is therefore not the stated objective.

A highly finished Reel could still fall short if its story is generic or the app’s contribution is incidental. Conversely, the emphasis on ordinary source material means entrants are not required to begin with elaborate production footage; the visible creative transformation is part of what the jury is evaluating.

The panel consists of actor Ahsaas Channa, creator Dolly Singh, Yuvaa co-founder Nikhil Taneja and Dharma Cornerstone Agency COO Rajeev Masand. No numerical weighting, scorecard, tie-breaking process or public-voting stage appears in the available guidelines.

What selected creators actually receive

Adgully’s launch coverage corroborates the October 8 deadline, the 10–20-Reel screening range, the judging criteria and the additional visibility and early feature access attached to recognised makers. The benefits, however, are not described as a single prize package for every selected creator.

The confirmed baseline is that the chosen Reels will be shown at an exclusive Edits Film Festival. A smaller, unspecified group of their makers will also receive jury recognition, be showcased through @metaindia’s social accounts and receive access to a few forthcoming Edits features.

The published material does not list a cash award, production grant or commercial contract. It also leaves the screening date and venue, the selection-announcement timetable, the number of additionally recognised makers and the identity of the unreleased features undisclosed.

As of August 28, the next fixed milestone is the close of entries on October 8, 2026. Details about the screening and the final selections remain pending.
