No equivalent measurement from BlueBird 11, 12 or 13 has been published.\u003C/li>\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Prospective — beta service:\u003C/strong> Preparation for beta service later in 2026 is a forward-looking plan. The August 5 deployment did not open a beta to customers.\u003C/li>\u003C/ul>\u003Ch2>Why 98.9 Mbps is evidence and 200 Mbps is not\u003C/h2>\u003Cp>The 98.9-Mbps figure belongs to a completed test involving an earlier Block 1 spacecraft, an ordinary smartphone and a connection over international waters. It should not be transferred to the newly launched satellites as though they had already reproduced or exceeded that result.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>Nearly twice 98.9 Mbps is approximately 198 Mbps, which explains the “approaching 200 Mbps” shorthand. That number is derived from the stated performance expectation; it is not a measured result from BlueBirds 11, 12 or 13.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>Even a future 200-Mbps peak would answer only one performance question. A peak from a particular connection does not establish typical user speed, total capacity within a coverage area, performance under congestion, reliability throughout a satellite pass or the quality of handoffs between spacecraft. Evaluating those properties requires tests with disclosed conditions after commissioning.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>The larger arrays give the new satellites a physical basis for greater communications capability, but hardware scale is not itself a speed result. Evidence for the new generation would require an actual phone connection through one of these spacecraft and a published measurement that identifies the satellite, network configuration and test conditions.\u003C/p>\u003Ch2>What three more satellites change for service\u003C/h2>\u003Cp>The mission expands the orbital portion of the planned network and creates additional opportunities for commissioning and testing. It is therefore a material deployment step, particularly for a system whose coverage and availability depend on the number and distribution of operational spacecraft.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>Three successful separations do not by themselves produce continuous coverage. Until participating markets, carrier access, supported services, device conditions and coverage windows are defined, customers in the United States and other planned markets should not treat this launch as evidence that service is currently available to them.\u003C/p>\u003Ch2>What remains unresolved after launch\u003C/h2>\u003Cp>The next spacecraft-specific evidence should address health, array deployment and commissioning for BlueBirds 11, 12 and 13. Performance testing would then need to show whether the next-generation hardware can deliver the expected improvement directly to ordinary phones under stated operating conditions.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>The August 5 mission settled the launch question: all three satellites reached low Earth orbit. It did not settle the speed or service questions.
